On Point for Jobs

New in 2008, the On Point for Jobs program assists On Point for College students who attend college or have graduated from college to get summer internships or permanent jobs.

And presently, we have several jobs and internships listed.  To qualify, you must:

  • be in the On Point for College program
  • be in college or have graduated from college

Involvement Fair II is a community fair to be held in October in conjunction with the 40 Below Summit. We are proud to expand the focus of this event: in addition to connecting young professionals with local nonprofits and community groups, our target audience will include high school and college students. In addition to booths for nonprofits, we will also invite professional organizations and local companies seeking interns.

Increase and develop funding base to provide the financial support necessary to make the program sustainable. Develop effective fundraising tools and train Westcott Community Center fundraising committee and staff in their implementation.

PR/Marketing Coordinator
Create a sustainable marketing plan that will ensure target community remains informed and connected and involved with the programming at Westcott Community Center.

WCC Community Arts and Culture Organizer
Create community focused artistic and cultural programming that increases motivation and self-esteem amongst impoverished youth while working towards establishing a sustainable community arts and education program that will continue this work. Use public and community art as a catalyst to empower and inspire the target population to invest their time and energy in the improvement of their neighborhood.

The Position: Applications Engineer

Major Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Training of technicians in the cable, satellite and wireless industries
  • 85% travel
  • Completion of accurate and timely training documentation

Qualifications:

To be effective in this position, the person must possess (prioritized list):

  • Excellent communication ability with customer groups (training background optimal) and/or college degree
  • Five years of Cable industry experience
  • Technical proficiency
  • Excellent judgment working with customers
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Proficiency with MS Office and Outlook

Priorities (90 Days):

  • General knowledge of cable, satellite, wireless industries
  • Meet with application engineering, lab, sales, standards manager, and engineering personnel
  • Competency with prep/installation of PPC drop and hard-line connectors
  • Onsite visits of (2) senior application engineers – approx. 2 weeks time
  • Deliver training independently to customer locations within 2 months
