Location: We are currently hiring one position for our Utica office.
FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Temporary, Full-time
Effective Date: April 1, 2026-August 31, 2026
Report to: Career Services Coordinator and Director of Workforce Development

Position Overview:

On Point offers a summer internship experience for its students in Onondaga County. Internships run for 6 weeks, from early July through mid-August. The Summer Internship Career Advocate is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the summer internship program at On Point. This role involves collaborating with both internal departments and external employers to create a positive and rewarding experience for interns while ensuring that both On Point and the employers benefit from the interns’ contributions. The Summer Internship Career Advocate plays a pivotal role in attracting talented interns, facilitating their onboarding and training, providing ongoing support throughout their internship period, and tracking data for program evaluation and payroll.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct day-to-day activities of the internship program, including recruitment of applicants, application review, student interviews, employer recruitment, student-employer matching, orientation and training, site visits, payroll management, recordkeeping, scheduling enrichment activities, troubleshooting issues, and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the Career Services Coordinator and relevant departments to recruit and select suitable intern candidates.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation for interns, including introductions to organizational policies, culture, and supervisors.
  • Work with department managers to design and deliver training that supports intern skill development and career readiness.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for interns, providing guidance, support, and issue resolution throughout the internship.
  • Monitor intern progress and conduct site visit evaluations, providing feedback to interns and supervisors.
  • Organize networking events, workshops, and activities to support a positive and inclusive internship experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and organizational requirements related to internships, including contracts and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records in spreadsheets and databases and generate reports on program effectiveness, including intern satisfaction and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Experience managing internship programs or related HR or recruitment functions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with interns, managers, and external partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing organizational needs.
  • Passion for supporting and developing young talent in an inclusive environment.

Salary:

  • $20/hour / 40-hour work week / 9:00am – 5:00pm with paid 1 hour lunch break / Monday thru Friday

Most positions receive a laptop or desktop, mobile phone, scanner, and portable printer to use so staff can work from other locations (school districts, community centers, etc.).

Holidays include Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
