On Point is dedicated to helping first-generation, low-income, and other traditionally underrepresented students overcome barriers to higher education and career success. We provide personalized guidance and wraparound support so that every student we serve has the opportunity to achieve their academic and professional dreams.

Position Overview:

The College Access and Success Advisor will work directly with high school and college students, recent graduates, and adult learners to help them explore, apply to, and succeed in college and career pathways. This position is ideal for a motivated, student-centered professional who is passionate about expanding educational access and improving outcomes for underrepresented populations.

This could be a part-time position for the right candidate but is in-person and not an online or hybrid position.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group advising to students on college exploration, application processes, financial aid, scholarships, and career pathways.

  • Support students in overcoming barriers to enrollment, persistence, and completion.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, high school and college staff, and community partners.
  • Organize and facilitate college and career readiness workshops, events, and campus visits.
  • Monitor and track student progress through regular check-ins, maintaining accurate case notes and data.
  • Collaborate with On Point colleagues to ensure seamless delivery of wraparound services (transportation, housing, technology, tutoring etc.).
  • Represent On Point at community events, school functions, and networking opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

  • Experience working with diverse and economically disadvantaged populations.
  • Knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, and career development resources.
  • Experience in youth development, mentoring, or workforce development.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Salary:

  • $44,000 per year / 40-hour work week / 9:00am – 5:00pm / Monday thru Friday

Benefits:

Positions receive a laptop or desktop, mobile phone, scanner, and portable printer to use so staff can work from other locations (school districts, community centers, etc.).

Holidays include Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and the Friday after.  We also offer paid leave from 12/24 thru 1/1 for full-time employees.

On Point also:
