On Point for College Wins Big at the Polls

SYRACUSE, NY — Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 marked a historic day for On Point for College. Three of the program's alumni sough in local races and all three were victorious.  

Firefighter and Henninger High School and St. Bonaventure graduate Tamica "Chachee" Barnett (photo top left) won a seat on the Syracuse City School Board in her first ever race.

Proctor High School and University of Rochester graduate Delvin Moody (photo top right) was elected to the Utica City Common Council, becoming the youngest person ever to hold elected office in Utica. 

And South Sudanese 'Lost Boy' Chol Majok (photo bottom) became the first refugee elected to office in Onondaga County when he won a seat on the Syracuse City Common Council. Chol is a graduate of Fowler High School, Syracuse University, and SUNY at Albany.
